Ausstellung: »ASPER.OPEN 150 – 2000«, Skizzen & Entwürfe
ASPER.OPEN.

Exhibition: »ASPER.OPEN 150 – 2000«, Sketches & Drafts
ASPER.OPEN. In the 29th exhibition of the MAM [Modern Art Mosel] Kunstverein, we bring the past into the present showing sketches and drafts. In preparation for the 150th anniversary of the excavation in 2027 – marking the Roman finds in Neumagen-Dhron – JÁCHYM FLEIG, JUTTA OBENHUBER, JESCO VON PUTTKAMER, CHRISTOPH THEURER, ANDREAS EXNER, KATJA VON PUTTKAMER and CHRISTOPH DAHLHAUSEN present works, drawings and concepts.
Works of contemporary art give rise to new configurations, shifts across time and space; they render the absent visible and expose the gaps left behind. History as fragment – both material and conceptual: the exhibition project interrogates present-day visibility, interpretation and relevance.
The starting point is a group of Roman sculptural fragments, discovered by chance during building works in Neumagen in the late nineteenth century. These fragments, often incorporated as spolia into later structures, form the foundation for an artistic engagement with memory, appropriation, destruction and transformation.
We invite you to the presentation at MAM [Modern Art Mosel] Kunstverein e.V. on Sunday 23 August 2026, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
The exhibition takes place as part of the »Die Goldenen Zwanziger« programme of the 2026 Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz.
